Over the last weeks Mr. Denis Case from Guyana Lands & Surveys Commission has
organised the existing aerial photographs of the coast of Guyana. Together with
Ms. Cathelijne van Haselen from Royal Haskoning they have gone through thousands
of aerial photographs and sorted them.
In this way a set of photographs of the coastline of Guyana, Essequibo River and
Demerara River from the 50's, 70's and 80's was compiled. Quite impressing!
Using these aerial photographs Training Module 2 (GIS and Data Management) is
going to compare the present position of the coastline to the position in the
50's, 70's and 80's. In this way a better understanding can be obtained of the
erosion / accretion cyclus of the Guyanese coast.
If you are interested to know more about the photographs please come along and
ask us.
