Introduction
The first workshop has been held on 29 January 2004 at Guyana Sea Defences at
Water Street in Georgetown. The project activities Module 1, Surveys comprise:
The most important training activities are:
- On-the-job training of trainees from Sea and River Defence Division,
Marine Administration (Marad), Hydromet, Guyana Lands & Surveys, National
Drainage & Irrigation Board and Guyana Forestry Commission.
- This
includes handling and maintaining equipment, operation and maintenance of
survey vessels, and approach and methodology of the measurements.
- A series of workshops to deal with the theoretical background of the measurements
- Transfer of equipment and the associated documents
- Preparation of guidelines and manuals where appropriate
- Final report with lessons learned and recommendations on operational and institutional issues to ensure continuity

Lectures
Aiming at Modules 1 (Survey), 3 (Modelling) and 4 (Sea Defence Structures)
a set of lectures have been given by Mr. Chris Persaud (SRKN'gineering)
providing an introduction in hydraulics. See

Aiming at Module 1, Survey and Data Collection, Leslie gave a lecture on various
theoretical and practical aspects of hydrographic surveys. Furthermore he paid
specific attention to his many years of experience in this field.
